It’s almost 3 PM and I’m still in bed.  Why?  Because I’ve been in Hawaii the past week, and caught the red-eye home from LA.  We immediately came home and went to sleep, intending to wake up around 10 AM.  Of course, things never go as planned, and we ended up sleeping much too late!  Hopefully, that won’t make the jet lag too difficult to get over – I have a very busy couple of weeks ahead of me!

Hawaii was amazing and I was definitely sad to leave.  Spending an entire week unplugged and relaxing was just what I needed.  I’m glad to be back though – it’s always nice to come home, even from a great vacation!  I’m not looking forward to the coming weeks, but I’m so close to being finished with school so I just need to buckle down for the next couple of months.

Since a lot of my vacation was spent on the beach, I got a lot of great reading done.  Usually, I don’t review books I read while I’m traveling, but this time I managed to write a review for every book I read, so you can look out for those in the coming weeks!

In case you missed it, I posted a Summer Reading List last week with some recommended reads.  The week before last, I blogged about BBAW 2010 and the books from BEA.  Additionally, I have a book giveaway for The Passage by Justin Cronin going on right now.  It runs through Tuesday, June 22.

Reviews posted this week:

A Curtain Falls – Stefanie Pintoff

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake – Aimee Bender

The Poet Prince – Kathleen McGowan

Heaven – Lisa Miller

Fireworks Over Toccoa – Jeffrey Stepakoff

A Year on Ladybug Farm – Donna Ball

Climbing the Stairs – Padma Venkatraman

  5. I’m glad you had a great time and were able to recharge while being unplugged. Can’t wait to see photos and hear about the trip…once you’re more recovered of course.

  7. We must have been like ships passing in the night, because I had no idea you were in Hawaii! Welcome back! We went to Maui in March…first time we’d ever been. Talk about heaven on earth – just gorgeous. Jet lag is a real pain in the butt though. You read more books in a week than I do in a month when you are BUSY, so I can only imagine how many you were able to read on vacation!

  9. Sounds like you had a relaxing week. Welcome back! It always takes me a few days to recover from that redeye from LA. Once the flight was held an hour (until 1am) for a well-known politician – very annoying.
I hope you can ease back into your routine.

  11. Welcome back! We missed you!

My husband and I spent our belated honeymoon in Hawaii. We really want to take the boys once they are both old enough to appreciate it. It’s a gorgeous place!

  13. I’m so envious about the trip! Hawaii is definitely a spot I’d like to visit.

I don’t know one thing about “A Curtain Falls,” but I love the cover. I know it’s superficial, but it looks like it’s worth a second look. I’ll have to read your review.

I’m in an eclectic phase. I’m reading a thriller, which is OK, for my fiction (obviously I’m not in love with it), plus I’m also in a self-help and spirituality area of my life right now. So I’m enjoying “Streetwise Spirituality,” by Carol Marleigh Kline. It’s kind of an “owner’s manual” that guides us to dealing with difficult relationships, feelings and other personal and professional disasters. It shows women how to make peace between who they really are and what others expect of them.
